This is one of the main reasons The Warning has such a devoted following: It’s not just who they are on stage, which is a perfectly-rehearsed band with a commanding presence exuding expertise and confidence, it’s their offstage personae. In their more everyday life videos, they are just a bunch of humble, self-effacing, surprisingly ordinary…[Read more]

We Americans give lip service to supporting certain internationally-accepted basic rules of conduct in conflicts. Avoiding civilian casualties, no retributive or terroristic acts (no raping the enemy’s women, for example), no summary field executions, no kangaroo courts, no genocide, and no torture being among them. We expect each side to adhere…[Read more]

We humans are a product of nature/nurture. Anyone who ascribes all to one or other is wrong. I have noted for a long time though nobody seems to mention that civilization also reflects the innate nature of populations. The environment in other words is in part shaped by us. The following discovery will validate or invalidate transgender. Or at…[Read more]

That’s interesting. It would be surprising if men and women didn’t have slightly different brains. I wonder what a trans person’s brain would classify as.

Many Christians lead exemplary lives. My own parents, for example. Kind, unprejudiced, compassionate, altruistic. If it weren’t for the obvious fact that there is no God, I might well be a Christian myself, following in their footsteps.

Billy Graham’s wife Ruth was very nice apparently, she took the writer Patricia Cornwell under her wing and saved her bacon, when she was a troubled little girl, showcasing the best of Christianity. That’s why Cornwell wrote her biography.

Jake,
I’m from North Carolina. We have our own batch of zany religious hatemongers.
The most notable, The Rev. Billy Graham, now has his own non-Gold Golden Calf-esque statue in Washington, DC:
