    Just a few things.

The notion of Palestinians as an ancient people is false. Ancestry is from all over the Levant. Some who are known as Palestinians lived in and around Israel for centuries. Same for Jews. Others came there during British Mandate to work. There was a newspaper founded in 1932 in what was to become Israel. The Palestine Post. In 1950 it was renamed the Jerusalem Post. Why you ask? Because Jews in that region were known as Palestinians. Thus the Palestinians Post. Naturally the lefties and Muslims erase history and create stories that in no way reflect reality but are useful in their efforts to destroy Israel and wipe out the Jews.

I was not even aware of the Jerusalem Post or other paper from Israel, Times of Israel. But i have been reading it the last year plus. And i gotta say the Israelis are just incredible. I understand the jealousy. Unbelievable for such a tiny nation how much science and innovation. Engineering. Climate change. Agriculture. AI. And humanitarian endeavors. I doubt the rest of the middle east with half a billion humans give or take achieves as much.

    Enco,

I read about the history of China a long time ago. So i am more than a little shaky. But Chiang Kai Shek who we supported of course but many Chinese did not because they got shit from the communists and Mao’s forces had a bloody war killing some 2 million Chinese. And you have to examine antecedents before jumping to conclusions.

Has socialism been an absolute bust? I don’t think so. Socializing medicine seems like an advantage. I think we all should have access to good health care. And Israel’s kibbutzim are a tiny victory.

    Reg,

YouTube is filled with street interviewers asking Palestinians and Pro-Palestinian activists their thoughts on “Queers for Palestine”, as well as asking “Queers for Palestine” their thoughts on homophobia in the Islamic world.

The cognitive dissonance and suicidal ideation are amazing to behold.

I have seen some of that too. I can’t wrap my head around the will to be a martyr. The truly faithful of all religions live in a fantasy world inside of their own heads.

You can’t even have rational discussion when supernatural magic makes its appearance. These flawed monkey brains have to close the circle. The Matt Dillahunty call-in shows are close to excruciating.

It is a horrible way to be conflicted. Are you, the queer for Palestine, going to be faithful to your religion of Jew hatred or are you going to be real about what they would do to you?

Sick fucking world. Sleep of reason and all of that jazz.

    Jake,

Chiang Kai Shek was no hero just because he opposed Mao and U.S. support of Chiang was pretty cynical. They were both mass murderers of different scales and China hasn’t had really good ideas on government since Lao Tzu. Even the followers of Taoism have surrounded those ideas with Woo.

Back in the mid 80’s I designed a searchable database* for the Dept. of Health in Westminster. It was used to pull info on the number of reported AIDS cases submitted by all the British Embassies around the world. The report from China read (I hope the official secrets act I took has expired!!) that there were 2 cases in China (out of a population of over 1 billion or 20% of the world at the time). Both cases came from “decadent westerners” and they were the only 2 gay people in all of China at the time!! That is 2 more than in all of Hamas controlled Gaza!

*A Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheet, later saved to .csv and imported on first try into SQL (ISO standard in 1988, I think).

Enco the Chinese were way ahead of Europe until they were strangled by Confusionism. Is that a word? You know the guy. It was another sleep of reason and the masses going along with the current. I think it was known as the star fleet. And it was well before Magellan and Vasco de Gama et al. They knew about scurvy. They had a ship in the fleet that was devoted to growing fresh fruit including oranges. I kid you snot. I aver the truth of the matter aforementioned to the best of my fallible memory.

Yes, I am still surprised that I am still stunned into bafflement at times by the cognitive dissonant statements that trickle down their enfeebled brains and dribble out of their mouths.

I usually have the thought “If I could only remember where I parked my damn spaceship so I could get the fuck out of here. There is no way we are the same species”.  But I keep that to myself 🙂

@jakelafort….of course we are still going to fact check you 🙂 I know you wouldn’t expect less!

Yes, China had a unique floating orchard ship in its fleet during the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644) to help prevent scurvy among sailors on long voyages.

The Ming Dynasty “Floating Orchard” Ship:

During the early 15th century, when Admiral Zheng He led his famous maritime expeditions (1405–1433), the Chinese fleet included special supply ships that carried soil-filled planters to grow fruits, vegetables, and medicinal herbs onboard.

    These ships:

Carried potted citrus trees and other plants rich in Vitamin C to prevent scurvy.
Helped keep sailors healthy on long voyages across the Indian Ocean, Southeast Asia, and even the East African coast.

Supported Zheng He’s massive fleet, which included treasure ships (baochuan), warships, water tankers, and food supply ships.

This was a remarkable early example of naval medicine—long before European navies widely adopted citrus against scurvy in the 18th century.

And of course Jesus did not allow himself to be born in China where people could read and write and did Science.

    Jake and Reg,

    Quoting Jake:

I have heard others describe the religion of Confucius as confusion, so I won’t be a Yahtzhee Nazi over the spellng.

I did not know that about Chinese fruit ships for fighting scurvy. I guess this means British sailors are engaged in “cultural appropriation” when they call each other “limeys.” 😀

I’m not surprised, though, that the Chinese had that knowledge and foresight. They also made the first magnetic compasses from balanced spoons and lodestones.

The Chinese also invented paper plus printing by movable type, not Guttenberg as some once thought and said. This printing process simply took off with Guttenberg because the Roman Alphabet and Sanscrit Numerals are far fewer than thousands of Chinese pictographic characters.

Some allege the Chinese sailors reached the Americas, but, of course, there’s lots of lore about pre-Columbus and pre-Viking explorers that would need corroboration with authentic physical evidence.

Israel probably has more rights to be there than the US has to be here. However, Native Americans are realists. Their war against the US was lost. The Palestinians just don’t know when to call it over.

If they were smart, they would run Trump’s Gaza casino like Native Americans do.
