You might note that very little changed in terms of women being sexually harassed, assaulted or raped (at least in open dialogue about it) until the me too movement. Until then, no matter how much people asked politely for it to stop, it changed at a glacial pace. All the while, women being harassed, assaulted and rape in ridiculously high…[Read more]

Most people who are dismissed as woke, are simply standing up for their own equality and dignity. I’m sorry, quietly asking people if they would kindly treat others with respect and equality does not work. This is, once again, a conservative overreaction to people standing up for their rights, equality and dignity.
A few decades ago, the…[Read more]

Thank you. I needed someone to explain this to me like I was 10. Have been walking around doing my lawn, cutting the hedges, and power washing my driveway and the word woke is banging around the sides of my brain. I really had no reference or idea about WOKE. So thanks.
Any time.

Unseen, free speech is not absolute. If you don’t have any problem with curtailing free speech when it comes to libel, copyright, endangering others (shouting fire in a cinema), then I don’t see why you’d be against particularly harmful hate speech which demonstrably leads to violence and suicide against vulnerable people. Perhaps you don’t care…[Read more]

Schoolyard bullying is so bloody nasty in Anglo-Saxon countries it is flabberghasting it has taken this long to be addressed. IT is far less of an issue in many countries (including much of continental Europe though not all). I don’t remember any bullying at all when I studied in Germany but in Canada it was so vile and out of control, people were…[Read more]

Woke has become a snarl word, used by those who resist change to old structures that give an unfair advantage to certain people and keep us from giving the respect and equality to all.
Yes, some who campaign for equality go to far and use silly language. Conversely, some conservatives use vile bigoted language that paint all conservativism as…[Read more]

You are under the illusion, Unseen, that any government respects the public. With very few exceptions, governments, in fact leaders of any kind, do so to suit their own interests and to maintain the interests of those who keep them in power. Yes, ideology does shape to some degree how they word bills and what they focus on. Over all…governments,…[Read more]

I don’t care what mode of destruction is used against combatants during a war. Well, I do care, but if war is going to happen, combatants are fair game. Civilians are not. Once you allow civilians to die (or pointlessly suffer to get a country to end things sooner), then there is no point in following any rules any more. If you kill civilians (a…[Read more]

That’s why we have a democracy. To keep such matters from being settled by violence.
It seems that Enco, and the rioters who stormed Congress…have a different idea of what Democracy is.

Without giving any spoilers for the movie Serenity and it’s prologue TV show Firefly, anything can be said to “work”. It all depends on the purpose.
I see. So suddenly…you are a relativist? Yeah it was pretty clear, it works if avoiding pointless deaths is more important to you than the illusion of absolute rights. I guess I simply wasn’…[Read more]

It is hard Enco to figure out what your take is on this.
Could you explain, precisely, how anything happening in Tennessee at the time, remotely compared to what Facists and Nazis were doing? I ask because, it is utterly vile to compare the utter horror of true restrictions on freedoms, genocide, mass murder, unthinkable oppression with something…[Read more]

Gun control (limiting guns to those who are mentally stable, trained, inspected, who have safety measures in place and a good reason to have each different kind of weapon) is effective…works. It simply works. Easily avoided gun accidents and fatalities are lower. Virtually every civilised Western country has gun control to various levels, and…[Read more]

Sunday School 2 years, 9 months agoUnseen it is absolutely exhausting reading your replies and inability to relent on any arguments, this discussion with Robert being yet one more of them. I’ve already started ignoring anything you say about COVID, Ukraine, LGTBQ+ issues but and conspiracies (and increasingly larger and larger amount of them as the weeks go by). I’m at the point…[Read more]

Unseen, re “family”: I mean, I was looking for your take on it, not a copy and paste from chatgpt…but if that represents what you mean, I guess that will do. I’d also ask you what a “family” is, but you’ll probably copy and paste a chatgpt and I can do it myself.
Regardless, not sure why you are referring to the why of something is “important”…[Read more]

Sunday School 2 years, 10 months agoThat’s really awful Belle. I’m extremely sorry to hear that. LGTBQ+ sexual assault, domestic abuse, violence is rarely talked about…but extremely problematic. Lol Reg. I thought it was just me. I genuinely found it extremely stressful watching American television. The breaks are so frequent…the adds so brazenly brainwashing (I mean they all are, but just so brazen in North America). And God forbid it is during an election campaign, where each side tries to convince you their opponent will turn America…[Read more]

the value of preserving the family to our society
The amount of times I have hear that phrase, then followed by vile justification for discrimination. I am genuinely curious precisely what “preserving the family to our society” means. Please elaborate on that Unseen. Be specific.

It makes no sense to have no regulations. We don’t want 5 years olds driving cars, companies able to add highly carcinogenic ingredients to food and we would prefer that only one radio station broadcasts on each particular frequency.
It makes no sense to overregulate, for example having a government installed camera in our car that monitors how…[Read more]
