Politics 3 years, 8 months agoIt’s a good explanation of the mechanics of it, but not the root causes. I think the dissatisfaction of the aging- off-the-coasts-boomers knows no bounds. They feel they didn’t get their slice of pie and they were looking for a wrecking ball.

Politics 3 years, 8 months agoHere’s a take on why left and right candidates tend toward their extremes. I pretty much knew this already, but Fareed Zakaria has the best way to explain it that I’ve heard to date.

Politics 3 years, 8 months agoIt feels like I’ve mentioned Steve Bannon a dozen times or more.
I just remembered a Johnny Harris NYT video that went into this “take over the precincts” strategy. My link skips right to the meat of the issue, about nine minutes into the twenty-five minute…[Read more]

Is there a question to talk about?I can’t think of a good one. Perhaps this topic is more of a commentary on the evolution or devolution of our democracy. Politics 4 years, 2 months ago(This topic can be made broader than what the title indicates, with Populism, Nationalism, Authoritarianism, and Oligarchs on the rise around the world. E.g. Macron’s re-election is a pleasant exception. Even if you’ve already seen these news pieces, I consider some of these “iconic” to the Trump Era.)

Atheist Cats 4 years, 3 months agoSAY WHAT?!!!
Cats are an introduced species in Australia and for years plans were formulated and executed to kill them off. Throwing in the towel, the new plan is to cross fingers and hope natural selection takes its course, making the native marsupials more aware of cats and armed with skills to evade them and/or avoid being killed by them.…[Read more]

Humanism 4 years, 3 months agoFellow Unbelievers,
There’s a revival of an old and especially anti-Humanistic tradition that many got an eyeful of during the recent Oscars:
Honor Culture Is Back. We Eradicated It for a Reason.

Politics 4 years, 6 months agoReg,
Several big problems with this man’s thesis: The U.S. elected 45 Presidents under our existing Constitutional framework without a January 6th occurring after each Election.
Also, even with The Supremes having a majority of “Conservative” Justices, they still didn’t want to hear any of Trump’s claims of voter fraud and didn’t want to…[Read more]

It is now another Thanksgiving Day!
