Duh. Trump is deporting people without actual judicial rulings.
The Neisei put into detention camps by FDR were natural-born U.S. Citizens, not immigrants.

When someone enters America, they are subject to American law just like a citizen. If a tourist gets a speeding ticket, he has the due process right to show up in court and dispute it, just like a native citizen.
The only basis Trump has for denying anyone due process is his claim that he can use war powers, and all of the legal eagles…[Read more]

Sunday School 1 year agoThe key phrase in the Due Process Clause of the 14th Amendment is:
“…nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law…”
Notice it says “any person,” not “any citizen.” That choice of language was intentional, and the U.S. Supreme Court has consistently interpreted it to mean that non…[Read more]

Sunday School 1 year agoTesla sales have plummeted by over 70% in countries like Germany and Spain. Some Tesla owners have resorted to placing stickers on their vehicles to distance themselves from Musk’s politics, with messages like “I bought this before Elon went crazy.” His alignment with right-wing politics, including his role in Donald Trump’s administration, h…[Read more]

Sunday School 1 year agoKilmar Abrego Garcia should be freed immediately. Whether or not is is a gang member is irrelevant. He is entitled to “due process”. If not, any citizen can be disappeared in the middle of the night…or at any time of the day. We need to start planning for a world where many citizens won’t have jobs but somehow aren’t destitute. Not having a traditional job doesn’t necessarily mean sitting on the couch eating bon-bons and watching TV. I, for example, don’t have a job but am active all day long.
The alternative would seem to be walled cities with people with jobs…[Read more]
