“You know, there’s a lot of fun made of elderly people. It can hurt”
Just so.
It comes as a bit of a shock to realise one has become socially invisible. Not just from being old*** either. It can also happen to divorced people. The invitations stop coming.
“When was the last time you saw an elderly person as a flight attendant, for ex…[Read more]

“Isn’t it ironic that statistics of people killed by socialism (which comes in a wide variety of flavors) is often proffered by people who are ignorant of or are eager to forget how many people historical capitalism has killed. ”
I’m not convinced that Socialism, Capitalism or Socialism have killed anybody. Nor indeed has atheism. None o…[Read more]

Belle Rose replied to the topic Harvard Study: Gender Pay Gap Explained Entirely by the Genders' Work Choices in the forum Politics 5 years, 7 months ago
Anyway, I don’t see any way past the social inertia problem. While statistics tell us that a lot of women want a career outside the home, it’s undeniable that a lot of women don’t. This may be because they were happily raised in a so-called “traditional” home or in one of the single-parent homes that actually worked well for them. But…

Second, we are back to fact that companies pay employees by their value to the company, not their gender.

@unseen, I’m sorry… I did NOT delete the update that you posted a few days ago, but then in the process of trying to explain what happened, I DID accidentally your newest update, along with my own klusterf#^%Y of an explanation. This update section is frustrating for you and I both. So I’ll just post the explanation in again,…[Read more] -

Very cool! Thank you for answering my question without some kind of sarcastic undertone. I have also been interested in reading up about Asian religions. I know very little to nothing about any of them except for bits and pieces here and there that I’ve heard throughout the years.…

You position reminds me of a section in Gulliver’s Travels, in Lilliput I think. The Court philosopher is yelling at Gulliver to go away. This because the philosopher has just proved a creature such as Gulliver cannot exist.
My point is that logic is a limited tool for arriving at a truth. Generally speaking rules of inference begin w…[Read more]

@unseen, I don’t understand your position. Are you saying
- males and females are somehow not of equal worth as people?
- women don’t deserve equal rights?
- oppression of women is OK?
What is your fundamental position on women’s rights?
I feel like you’ve been distorting your reasoning, and tying yourself up in knots, trying to prove some a…[Read more]
