Right now there is an emergent crisis for trans rights where states are mandating child abuse in the interest of ideology (hypocritically, the very thing many Republicans accuse trans people of doing). So whether one wants to back off or not for political convenience, there’s a callousness to that you may never really be able to come back from.…[Read more]

I think the pickle Target finds itself in is a classic canary in a coal mine.

Target is being targeted by extremist offshoots of a populist movement. Trans rights is tangential. You won’t kill the populism by backing off on any single issue. That’s addressing the symptom, not the disease. Unless the dems can find a way to deal with xenophobic…[Read more]

The news coverage was when they covered it in the news back when he first made the announcement last year. I am sure there were also stories prior to that announcement as there have been stories since and there will continue to be coverage during his run. While the town hall is news adjacent, pretending like CNN staff objecting to the town hall…[Read more]

This has nothing to do with all candidates at once. This has to do with the absurd notion that CNN would be biased against Trump as a candidate for not giving him a town hall in a primary race that doesn’t even have finalized candidates when CNN has no articulated format for providing this opportunity equally to all candidates. It’s a bullshit…[Read more]

    The legislation states:

Directs the commissioner of human rights to solicit, receive, and compile reports from community organizations, schools, and individuals regarding incidents that members of the community believe are motivated by bias.

I don’t know where this fixation on individuals or citizens comes in.

I’m pretty sure it’s not that kind of list. From the sound of it, it’s about compiling data on target, type, locale, and frequency of bias motivated incidents rather than building person of interest or watch lists.

That’s not what the article nor the legislation states. It just allows for the collection of data to see overall trends. The Department of Human Rights is likely a better avenue for this than the police.
