Good. I have no problem with the concept of “Freedom of Religion”. But if someone has that, then I want my “Freedom from Religion”. Stigmata for 6 hours?? Excellent! ‘My favorite weapon is the look in your eyes”……

Thats the way. I had some that would let dogs bark for hours. I asked them to please stop several times. I was ignored. I setup 3kW PA gear with extra sub-bass on the edge of the property, aimed at their house. All covered in plastic sheeting in case of rain. Started with all sorts of psychological noise like sirens, screaming, chains, factory…[Read more]

It started innocently enough—or so I thought. Sunday morning, with the scent of fresh coffee wafting through my kitchen, I heard it: a syrupy guitar riff accompanied by lyrics about salvation, redemption, and “walking with the Lord.” My renting neighbors ranting about their magical mystery man Jesus were at it again. Windows wide open, speak…[Read more]

Sunday School 1 year, 7 months agoWittgenstein was my Master’s thesis (“Wittgenstein and Moore on Certainty”). He’s up there with Berty Russell as a quotable philosopher.
“Light dawns gradually over the whole” is about as perfect a description of how a subject matter becomes understood as there is.

More than shop class, I’m concerned that kids aren’t being taught geography anymore. Now, I’m not a geographer and there are some fairly obscure—hardly ever in the news—countries, but even with a lot of the lesser-encountered ones, I’d at least know where on a map to start looking. I wouldn’t start trying to locate Iran in Africa or Mon…[Read more]

The Webb Telescope seems to be telling us that something is very wrong the scientific theory called Dark Matter. When will the scientists admit it?

Shop class probably went the way of Home Economics or Touch Typing Skills classes. I took Shop and also Touch Typing and Mechanical Drawing. Touch typing is the only one I can say serves me in daily life to any degree.

Pope, I agree with your take on Jewish culture. I know so many Jews who are atheists, yet they still practice many of the cultural attachments of the religion. Sometimes it is out of respect for the elders or family and sometimes just because they find it enjoyable. And here’s the thing…it’s no big deal if they don’t believe. The family still…[Read more]

Sunday School 1 year, 7 months agoManifest is the world of the year. I am not surprised as I have hear so many people claim to be doing it.
Manifesting is what psychologists call ‘magical thinking’ or the general illusion that specific mental rituals can change the world around us.

When my husband died, because he was so famous and known for not being a believer, many people would come up to me-it still sometimes happens-and ask me if Carl changed at the end and converted to a belief in an afterlife. They also frequently ask me if I think I will see him again. Carl faced his…[Read more]

I think underneath the big political rift in the US, there is a growing educational divide. Those without an economically useful tech degree really got hit harder by “globalization” and the offshoring of manufacturing. Everyone is not for college, there are all sorts of avenues to success that we don’t even explore. Hell, I don’t even think they…[Read more]
