@unapologetic – Re. Sunday Assembly: No thanks. I am pretty antisocial.
Those things sound pretty strange to me. Everyone’s there to worship nothing? What’s the point?

Reg, I had the same joyful reaction – terrific word, adding it to my top drawer of delightful thoughts – Jake – thanks for the gift 🙂

Scientifically speaking, there is only one human race: Homo sapiens. The concept of different “races” is a social construct, not a biological one.
The different ethnic groups look different and are different colours. But I agree, those are superficial differences.

Have a great week everyone!!
Christians think nothing of condemning nonbelievers to eternal suffering, but will forgive the most atrocious crimes committed by themselves.

the mere act of observing some events (simply knowing about them, in other words) has some way of modifying them.
Surely observing requires photons to knock into and bounce off something, therefore, potentially modifying it.
You’ve got it backward, Simon. Photons go into the eyes. They don’t shoot out of them.

Simon, how do you like this?
Is he choosing to treat his wound with ointment? Imagine you are in the jungle alone naked and afraid when you stumble and crack your head and you are left for dead? Along comes an orang who gives ya a med.

It might be worth giving Dennett another chance to make his case on ‘Determinism’ (and the ‘free will’ that matters).
