The average person would also benefit from AI and automation if all they had to do was debug the processors and spray clods off of the automated plows and oil the machines. Humans would also still have to provide oversight if AI made mistakes. As I’ve pointed out earlier, they still need art lessons.

Parents like this are arguments for vaccines provided in Epi-Pens with temperature-controlled delivery service…as well as home vasectomy and tubal ligation kits for those too dumb for the vaccines.

It will be through propaganda and the appeal of authoritarianism. It will be enabled by our failure to have a C T shield.
What’s a C T shield? Is it made of Vibranium or Adamantium and makes all who oppose it yield?

I tested 20/20 correct out of 20 headlines on the Misinformation Susceptibility Test..but probably because I’m a good tester who could identify baloney and was sufficiently media saavy. I also think I could sense the direction of the test’s drift.
Perhaps if the test was solely on logical fallacies or scientific method, it could more…[Read more]

The recent years have taken a lot out of Douglas Murray, as it has all of us. He’s went grey quickly. I just hope he doesn’t lose that Promethean fire like too many cultural commentators have.

Netanyahu is not getting out of this unscathed, no matter how the war in Gaza ends.
October 7 happened on Netanyahu’s watch and his Mossad had a 9/11 scale failure of imagination not to foresee it. Given the history of the Jews, the last thing an agency dedicated to protection of Israel should have is a failure of imagination. In…[Read more]

Instead of simply “not knowing”, religious apologists resort to bad logic and philosophy to answer physics problems with gods as the solution. So, imaginary realms and beings are conjured up, and theists are immortal!
And somehow, we Unbelievers ended up being smered as the arrogant, preumptuous ones.

If something happens or manages to exist or to be manufactured, it satisfies the laws of nature and is ipso facto “natural.”
Precisely! A man’s dam is as natural as a beaver’s dam.
And Deoxyriboneucleic Acid is natural as well, but to hear the Crunchy people talk, if it has a hard to pronounce chemical compound, it’s best to avo…[Read more]

Enco, I’ve always found “unnatural” to suffice.
That is possible, although Religious and Crunchy people, both Left and Right, have messed up the word by calling perfectly natural things in the Natural Universe “unnatural”, e.g. “unnatural food” or “unnatural acts.”
And just think of the mental short circuits that would result from…[Read more]

Using a word for a concept should not be taken to mean belief that the concept actually exists. I use the word “Supernatural” to mean a thing that is “beyond” the Natural Universe and not operating by Natural Laws. I suppose all the other prefixes could apply too, as well as “Supranatural” or “Extranatural.”. It could include…[Read more]

So everybody is clear, by asking my questions, I’m not giving any credence to the Kalam Cosmological Argument or any other argument for the existance of a God. The Kalam cosmological argument debunked.
Reading that story has given rise to many big questions:
* If The Big Bang took place 13.8 Billion years ago, and the radius of the known Universe is around 46 Billion Light Years, wouldn’t the matter at the edge of that radius had to have travelled from The Big Bang at faster than the speed of…[Read more]
