Do you know that there isn’t a rhinoceros in your bathroom, or do you have to look to make sure? I’m betting that you know. This is a kind of knowledge that only an absurd level of doubt can call into question.Putting it that way, +1. Not even coy.

Silly Humans. My summary, as objectively as I can put it…
This is about science vs faith, i.e. what’s rational, logical, but most importantly what is documentable and repeatedly provable, VS faith, i.e. believing something just because it feels right regardless of lack of proof.
In addition to repeatably/universally understood proofs, science…[Read more]

We need to stop playing coy. God simply does not exist and it’s knowable and provable.Hmm, how is that’s scientifically provable? Similar to the burden of proof being on the person declaring a fact would be proving that pink unicorns don’t exist. These things are not scientifically testable, much less provable.
I’m not “playing c…[Read more]

Thanks for helping me understand the question. Maybe I also didn’t consider authoritarianism as a reasonable option, on its surface. (I still don’t.)
Faith. Bad word in most cases here at AZ, and yet don’t people need to have faith in their leaders? Whether democratic or dictatorial. As Davis points out, the chances of getting the leadership…[Read more]

Forgive me for not really understanding the question.
Are the A, B, and C wrapped into one proposition we’re supposed to vote on? Then the proposition needs to be rewritten.
Or are you just pointing out how most people can’t get everything they want? E.g. taken to its extreme, we could be talking about a dozen issues A through L, and using the…[Read more]

Ivy, I still have my fingers crossed.
Meanwhile, I haven’t looked at TikTok for weeks, but the next couple days might be golden there! “Kids” there are the future, right?!
I appreciate PC access to TikTok, but right now I’m feeling like I wanna risk the addiction, fire up the mobile, and swipe swipe swipe…

Call me naive, but it looks to me like a Trump meltdown. Now he’s attacking his own loyal minions, and that’s after he’s gotten them infected.
This saga has turned from Reality Show to Unreality Show. I’ve been shocked repeatedly by the extent of President McNasty’s open hating against progressives and tacit encouragement of supremacists to come…[Read more]

My wife (now ex) took on the large project of searching the area for better public and private schools because of a public school we were currently disappointed with. She eventually found another, smaller public school, and we were fortunate by law in our area to be able to transfer to that school. It was a very good decision, and one teacher in…[Read more]

The easy part is done.I’ve confirmed, as I only suspected before, that coming out as atheist is not always easy and not easy at all for some people. It activates the “shaming module” in a lot of believers, against non-believers.
I’ve learned that the faith-inducing blinders imposed by culture causes a lot of people to even…[Read more]

I have a friend who had her son when she was 42 at which point the father (who had wanted a child) upped and left leaving her as a single mom. Her son is very disruptive She enrolled him in a Tai Kwan Doh class and it seems to have made a huge difference. He’s not perfect, by any means. I know it’s an expense. What isn’t, these days?! Ah, thanks, good one. Sam’s on my podcast apps. I’ve already fallen asleep to this one, as I do with most podcasts. I’ll give this another try, like when it’s NOT at bed time! Science — the kind that requires evidence and reason. 5 years, 9 months agoIMO we (and perhaps the world) has been suffering more than necessary because of 1) unpreparedness and 2) the continuing deficiency of prioritization of more massive testing regimes. Vaccinations and Trump’s actions/inactions make headlines, while our FDA and media lag behind on promotion and deployment of rapid tests.
The precision of PCR tests…[Read more]

Science — the kind that requires evidence and reason. 5 years, 9 months agoI wanted to start this topic a couple months ago, but am finally motivated after hearing today’s possibly wonderful news that Trump has tested positive. If anyone “deserves” to be infected with it, it is He and His Loyal, Denialist Minions. 🙂
I feel, as I’ll bet Bill Gates would who’s publicly predicted pandemics for at least a decade now, that…[Read more]
