Additionally there is a tendency to be impressed by a person’s credentials in one are and assume they are an expert in another. Not sure what that fallacy is called or if it is a fallacy because i never paid a great deal of attention to formal or informal fallacies.

Sunday School 2 years, 8 months agoAccording to the Holy Bible women are not allow to speak with any authority. In fact, women should remain silent. A pastor said this and it is also clarified by an esteemed University. Even if they do speak, they certainly cannot be leaders within the church and make no bones about it (Huh Reg?).
Wait, is the whole of the Holy Bible in…[Read more]

Sunday School 2 years, 8 months agoI wonder would the free will quote read better if he used the term ‘atheism’ instead of ‘determinism’?
It takes a certain intellectual courage to instead embrace determinism and a worldview of causal complexity. But it also offers enormous promise: a clearer vision of your place in the Universe, freedom from unnecessary anger, pride, guilt and…[Read more]

Sunday School 2 years, 8 months agoSocial Media is something I refuse to be involved with. I do not use FB or Twitter or any other medium. When I debate with people face to face I often wonder how they can be so opinionated and/or outraged on subjects that, to me, they clearly know very little about. They seem to have no ability to frame things in any context other than “Well…[Read more]

Sunday School 2 years, 9 months agoSome of my gays friends were telling me about the use of meth in their community. I had no idea it was such a problem and one that seems to be very widespread. Such a shame.
Edit: Apparently H&H is a specific reference for Meth usage.

Sunday School 2 years, 9 months agoIn general it means “hang out and hook up” but in this context it means “horny and high”. My friends on Grindr say it is common to see listed and have told me it means looking for sex and drug parties. If followed by 420 it means weed only, otherwise meth, which I like to imaging the priests were using.
