Sunday School 4 years, 4 months ago@Unseen – Interesting, ground meat for you is “processed” (I’ll grant that grinding is a kind of process, but how in the world is artificial meat to be regarded as non-processed food?).
All food is processed to some extent. But I find burger meat to be overly so. Often it comes from several parts of several different animals and even from diffe…[Read more]

Sunday School 4 years, 4 months agoI recently had the meatless one from TGI Friday’s and it was very good. Tasty and reasonably priced. I would prefer it anytime over a processed meat one. I was impressed even more given that I was in Newark airport at the time! I think it is also called “The impossible burger”, unless that is a generic name rather than a trademark. I can’t think…[Read more]

Science — the kind that requires evidence and reason. 4 years, 4 months agoI am only quoting what the cow said. It is enough having to put up listening to the fronkeys all day long.

Science — the kind that requires evidence and reason. 4 years, 5 months agoNo, son, we don’t. We have not evolved to do so. Our teeth are formed to eat grass and our digestion system is designed to process it. It was unherd of until a few years ago when some of us had our feed spiked with meat by the “two legs bad” people. That led to many of us going insane with bovine spongiform encephalopathy. It was very calfk…[Read more]

Sunday School 4 years, 5 months ago@Enco – Good point about the “Show-Me” State. Atheist Ireland were the first advocacy group to represent the concerns of atheists at the UN back in 2016. They are still putting in the hard work.
(I fixed the double posting for you).

Sunday School 4 years, 5 months agoThere is a movie script waiting to be written with that story. I am going to keep an eye on one of his horses tomorrow as she should come good soon.
I have often heard stories about poitín (Irish moonshine) being rubbed into the legs of greyhounds before the start of a race to make them run faster but I don’t get the “science” in doing that. A…[Read more]

Sunday School 4 years, 5 months agoI live close to some of the biggest thoroughbred horse trainers in Ireland. You should see how well treated the horses of Sheikh Mohammed are. The same is true elsewhere around the world.
As for trophy hunting dentists? I wonder is he is a Christian who thinks he has dominion over them because of his silly book?

Sunday School 4 years, 5 months agoI did indeed Jake :-). JP is the throttlebottom of academia. But he did try to get young men to pet street cats as the last of his 12 rules for living which reeked of religious blatherskite.

Sunday School 4 years, 5 months ago@Simon – That’s my definition, which is meaningful. Someone told me about “self-actualization” .
That is usually referenced when discussing Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and is the top of the triangle but you never get there on an empty stomach.
But I think you are referencing Carl Rogers Theory here. I could argue against some of it but I won’t…[Read more]

The very very naughty ones certainly do. Exploiting Catholic guilt is so easy 🙂

Sunday School 4 years, 5 months agoYou must admit that nobody wants to be dominated or humiliated,
I can’t admit to that based upon some of the requests I have had 🙂
But is that not also a description of the sheeple that belong to organized religions?

Sunday School 4 years, 5 months agoif we take ‘spiritual’ to mean……
That is my problem with the word. There is no meaningful definition of it. Yet it is used by people who seem to think that I know what they mean when they use it but cannot furnish me with a definition upon my asking for one.

Davis, Sorry to hear about the passing of your mum. If we remember people with fondness and that brings us joy then who needs Heaven when their echoes can be heard whenever we pause to listen to them.
@Strega – You got me there! 😊
