Sunday School 7 years, 11 months agoI think the reason why Islam is so strict…
It is strict because in such countries they fulfill two essential conditions:
1 Its based on an Abrahamic bookswhich are all full of ridiculous laws as well as prohibitions and brutal punishment.
2. Religion pervades all levels of society and informs laws and behaviors as well…[Read more]

Sunday School 7 years, 11 months agoPope, unfortunately the majority of muslims adhere to a rather conservative and opressive form of Islam. The overwealming majority of muslim women are very held back, homophobia is nearly universal, freedom of religious dessent is rare and acts of adultary are met with strict punishment. If by moderate you mean they don’t support terrorists, then…[Read more]

Sunday School 7 years, 11 months agowhich in this case [moderates] are by far in the majority
Unfortunately I beg to differ. As the increase of extremism and violence has increased in the last few decades, some see moderate Muslims as those who do not agree with violent Jihad and who make a couple progressive exceptions to common oppressive customs. But this…[Read more]

I cannot think of a single moral system that doesn’t result in answer YES. If you asked “is it wrong to feed cats a vegetarian diet” then you’re on a lower consensus among moral systems ground, some will result in no. But responding to “is not feeding an essential diet to a domesticated animal a form of animal abuse”? Obviously. I mean…it’s v…[Read more]

Pope, just because you cannot relate to the offense…doesn’t mean it’s not offensive. you cannot always choose to feel offended…and there is nothing wrong with that. Men towards women or heterosexuals towards homosexuals also make comments which may not seem offensive, but when repeated endlessly…a small one will eventually trigger a deep…[Read more]

Against the odds is probably a better description, but it doesn’t convey as much emotion as the term ‘miracle’. And there’s no antonym for ‘miracle’ that I can think of. It’s a bloody miracle I didn’t miss the train the other day, seeing as I left it to the last minute to leave.

Indeed Reg. 180 Japanese people drowning in flooded water. The bad luck stuff…that’s God working in mysterious ways (or maybe they didn’t pray enough).

If it’s an insult, I’m sure it’s not intentional.
Just as when an atheist is likely to die from cancer and people tell you they are praying for you and its all in God’s hand…is quite similar. Even when you ask them to stop they keep doing it. It may not be intentional but it is still demeaning to many and grossly offensive to others.

Poitically, socially and per globalism Canada is immensely different from the United States. Heathcare was insitutionalised decades ago, the state gives generously to the disabled, single mothers and many other groups needing help. Job security is more protected.
