    Jake,

As far as that bearing arms amendment and what i want is good regulations and major penalties for arms bearers failing to attain the requirements beforehand. Prove you know what you are doing with a gun safety course or test passed. No sales to minors.

Alas, all that was in place in Israel on October 7th and there were nowhere near enough good people with guns to counter Hamas’ guns. It shocked me because I thought Israel had a more friendly culture to armed self-defense.

    Enco,

    Yeah for sure.

Did an AI percentage of Israelis who have guns and it is really surprising to me. The way the lefties are amplifying Jew hatred everywhere it is probably a good idea for any Jews in the public eye or who do demonstration/protest stuff to be armed.

Recent information suggests that less than 2% of Israelis legally own a gun. This is a relatively low percentage compared to countries like the United States, where about 30% of adults say they personally own a gun.
However, there’s been a significant increase in applications and licenses issued following events like the October 7th attacks in 2023.
Here’s a breakdown of the situation:
Low overall ownership: Typically, gun ownership in Israel is low, around 2% of the population.
Government efforts to increase civilian armament: Following recent events, the Israeli government has taken steps to relax gun laws and fast-track permit applications, aiming to increase the number of armed citizens for self-defense.
Significant rise in applications and permits: Since October 7th, 2023, there’s been a substantial increase in firearm permit applications and approvals. The Times of Israel reported that 260,000 new requests were submitted, and JNS.org states that over 205,000 licenses have been issued.
New regulations: Changes include lowering training requirements for certain groups, extending eligibility to those who haven’t served in the IDF but live in designated areas, and streamlining the application process.
Controversy and concerns: These changes have sparked debate, with some concerns raised about the potential for increased gun violence, domestic violence, and risks to Palestinian citizens.

More and more popularization of many worlds/multiverse. So hypothetically a scientific theory emerges and a consensus forms that a many worlds ‘reality’ is as solid as Darwin’s game changer.

How do the theologians adjust? Yeah so ahmmmm this confirms what we have said all along. Quantum entanglement demonstrates that locale is irrelevant. Proximity to heaven is irrelevant. Halfway across universe and entangled particles dance together. So it is with our souls as they go to their final resting place without travelling. All aspects of god’s plan and why we should never question his wisdom.

Hindus or buddhists can make hay with the alice in wonderland of science too. Does not take much imagination to see how they can reconcile their BS with it.

I am not sold on the multiverse theory. Too many strings attached.

Made it through half of Greene and was following along like an imprinted duck. Lost book. Found it two years later. Picked up where left off and was lost at sea. But i guess that is an interpretation as opposed to…

LOL, nice one! I’m currently favoring worm-hole action at a distance, while the worm-hole itself has the entangled particles behaving (or appearing) as if there is no distance between them at all. Umm, I know it sounds hokey, but like worm-holes abide in another dimension, dude.

Is it not possible to connect two points by travelling in a higher dimension?  I’m not sure.  A two-dimensional plane can be folded within three dimensions, we can connect two 3-d points by travelling in time.  I’m pretty sure that if you go up a dimension or two, then distant points in lower dimensions can be connected.

Surely we can never know.  But wasn’t there a story about another universe that had bumped into ours?

When I bring up this point in William Lane Craig Facebook discussions, Christians say it’s an example of blind faith.  They’re right.  But at least it’s consistent and doesn’t contradict observed reality.

If we arm every ape/human with a gun, what could go wrong? The NRA has an entire anti-statistics department working overtime to make 1+1=3. Because 6.3 school shootings a week keeps the kids awake and alert.

Occam’s Razor cuts those strings easily. One Universe with lots of unknowns is the best catch-all.

    Cite?

We don’t need one gun for every ape/human, just one for every would-be victim. Anybody have have statistics on who that could be?

K-12 School Shooting Database – online

Includes gang shootings, domestic violence, shootings at sports games and afterhours school events, suicides, fights that escalate into shootings, and accidents.

Doesn’t matter to you if you get shot at a Friday night game. Or if a kid brings a gun to school and shoots themselves. Teachers I know say hardly a month goes by without some kid getting caught with a gun.  The obvious result of more guns than people.

349 dead or wounded kids in 2023 divided by 52 weeks. Actually, need to subtract vacation weeks so it is higher.

273 victims in 2023, so again five kids a week. This is just k-12. Last year 267, so again 5 kids a week.

Only if there was twice as many guns…..

Oh look, AI wants to chime in:

A 2022 study on state firearm laws, gun ownership, and K-12 school shootings published by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) found a positive association between more permissive firearm laws and higher rates of gun ownership, and an increased rate of K-12 active school shootings and K-12 school shooting incidents.

This study indicated that for every ten-unit increase in the permissiveness of state firearm laws, the school shooting rate was 10.5% higher, and for every ten-unit increase in gun ownership, the rate was 27.0% higher.

The study’s authors suggested that higher gun ownership in states might increase the likelihood of children and adolescents being exposed to firearms, potentially increasing their access and use of a firearm in a school shooting.

Some countries with widespread gun ownership and relatively low rates of school shootings include:
Switzerland: Switzerland has a high rate of gun ownership, largely due to its tradition of a citizen militia. However, it has significantly lower rates of gun violence compared to the US, particularly in schools. Factors that contribute to this include stricter gun control regulations and a different societal context surrounding firearm use.
Norway and Finland: These Scandinavian countries also have relatively high levels of gun ownership, often associated with hunting, but experience much less gun crime and firearm violence, including in schools, compared to the US.
    Important Considerations:
While these countries demonstrate that high gun ownership doesn’t automatically equate to high school shootings, it’s crucial to acknowledge the unique societal and legal frameworks in place.
Countries like Switzerland and Norway have robust gun control measures and a culture of responsible gun use, which contributes to lower rates of gun violence.
The relationship between gun ownership rates and gun violence is complex and influenced by numerous factors, including cultural norms, socio-economic conditions, and the effectiveness of gun laws.
Studies have shown that permissive firearm laws and higher rates of gun ownership are associated with higher rates of school shootings in the US

You could elimlinate almost all gun violence in America by simply forbidding anyone with an X chromosome to own or have access to firearms.
