PopeBeanie replied to the topic On the question of whether there are any actual infinities in the forum Science 5 years, 8 months ago
1) Only if the computer (ironically) requires infinitesimal energy; 2) Or any object with circularity.
What if the only meaning of “infinity” is that there can be nothing larger (or smaller) within the context wherein it refers to a quantity? E.g. if a Big Bang starts off with infinite density in infinitesimal space and time, assuming no other…[Read more]

As for voting vs praying, I’d say they’re more equivalent as “faiths”, and specifically “group faiths”. When I vote, which I will mail in as soon as I study the local ballot measures, I know it won’t really make a difference. So I vote with the faith that I’m doing the right thing for my fellow citizens, as I think my fellow citizens are also…[Read more]

Thanks again Anna. The best I can tell, Sue’s had earlier IDs set up and we’re now seeing use of those past IDs.
I’ve taken more measures but am not sure how well they’ll work. (By the way, I got the same email, but I have no way to know who else or how many other members also get them.)

Yes Anna, thank you for this warning! I deleted this member a couple hours ago. So I suspect that you’ve copy/ pasted that text from an email, or from an old AZ post that that should have also disappeared? Please let me know if you still see this post anywhere on AZ.
This also goes for any friend requests from this scammer… I believe those…[Read more]

PopeBeanie replied to the topic What happened to Atheist Nexus? in the forum Small Talk 5 years, 8 months ago
Atheist Zone came from Think Atheist (TA). Asking for money was unsuccessful there, so we volunteers (including the new owner of TA) moved here to AZ which costs significantly less to maintain. I think of it as a community service, and wish that any atheist org owner/principal thinking of giving up would reach out to other, similar orgs and offer…[Read more]

An assertion not found in evidence.
True. Think I went out on a limb glibly, kinda making fun of logical arguments that probably wouldn’t matter at all to those believers out there who will just make up their own logic (or ignore it) in any case. God was a human — specifically-patriarchal invention from the very start of…[Read more]
