Not all trans categories are a single category.(I wasn’t finished editing my post before you responded… sorry.)
In any case, it could be left up to them (and those non-binaries, and so on in any other category) to come together and make those kinds of determinations themselves. With as much additional support from all…[Read more]

Help make inter-trans (intra-trans?) competitions more common and popular, because trans people deserve to have them. I think that least some trans events…[Read more]

Maybe trans men and women could compete in their own category someday, even in (say) the Olympics. It might be interesting to see how trans men and trans women would feel about competing with each other, instead of (or in addition to) just competing with their own assigned gender-mates. It might be one way to discover whether or not the genes…[Read more]

Review of literature showing there is no conclusive evidence transwomen on average have a competitive advantage:

This article focusses on transgender youth sports, and the lack of evidence that there is an unfair advantage (at the youth level), the harm it causes, the insidious nature of…[Read more]

There are certainly ways to ensure fairness and balance in transwomen competing in sports. There was already rules in place which ensured that trans-women were taking estrogen, had been doing so for a period of time, had transitioned and other measures which deemed there was no unfair advantage.
Alas, prejudice wins again and again. Under the…[Read more]

At this point, all of you are just kicking the half rotted corpse of a well well well dead horse. I would imagine by now, you’ve all restated your extreme, uncompromising stories about how one side is justified in doing atrocious things, are virtuous and the good guys in the story and the others are demonic evil monsters, irredeemable and solely…[Read more]

To Do or not To Do 2 years, 6 months agoPope, you definitely touched on a genuine aspect of why ghosting is so easy. For some people it does require flexing unflexed muscles. In my work, we have to use extreme care with everyword and put significant thought into how we phrase things. This is the opposite of typical locker room talk, where in my icehockey changeroom every ginger is…[Read more]

To Do or not To Do 2 years, 6 months agoThanks for all your replies. I would say that you don’t have to be specific when letting someone down. In your trans case, just tell the person you’re sorry for wasting their time, you aren’t feeling it and wish them the best.
To give you an idea of how prevalent ghosti g is in Scotland, I had chatted with a lad for 5 weeks, almost daily.…[Read more]

To Do or not To Do 2 years, 6 months agoIn the context of this group, and your topic, specific question and my experience, I don’t think much in terms of valence wrt morality or what’s “wrong”. I focus on improving my recognition and employment of empathy, which has been a decades long process for me. I’d say that empathy plus objectivity, together with limitations on expectations and…[Read more]

To Do or not To Do 2 years, 6 months agoI’ve not yet read other responses, to give my most unbiased opinion. Although I’m sure I’m a cultural outlier, I’m also fairly sure that my affinity to bonding with friends, and my level of empathy for strangers lie near the end of a human scale that goes from “really want it and need it, and take this personally” to “meh, I’m not into it and to…[Read more]

To Do or not To Do 2 years, 6 months agoWhen I lived in Spain, I was ghosted by about 10% of guys, though rarely after a longer exchange. Since I’ve been in Scotland, its more like 95%, many after a long chat. It has become so common, I rarely chat with locals as I simply have little faith we will ever meet or that the conversation will go anywhere. I personally find ghosting…[Read more]

I was most surprised about some…[Read more]

No Abrahamic religions as written can coexist with liberal democracy. I cannot understand this obsession with singling out Islam. Christianity, Judaism and Islam, as written in their books, are ALL entirely incompatible with liberal democracy.
