Sunday School 2 years, 3 months agoHave a great week!!
Yesterday, during a conversation about Easter and forgiveness with a few theist callers:
Reg, can I ask you a serious question?
Yes, please do.
For the record I did not find the comment about you calling tomorrow “Respawn Sunday” funny. In fact, I found it a somewhat offensive but I am prepared to forgive and for…[Read more]

Imagine if The Ramones or Sex Pistols were girls.
With a name like Die Spitz, you’d think this up-and-coming punk band is from Germany, Austria, or perhaps even Switzerland, but they are actually from Austin, Texas. And, a German speaker would know that the German word “Spitz” is masculine, so it should be “Der Spitz.”
By the way, “Spitz” in…[Read more]

Sunday School 2 years, 3 months ago@Simon – My moral reasoning has definitely been strengthened a lot as I have got older.
Aging in and of itself does not raise ones moral standards. Thinking about morality does. The more you think about life and the more you ponder various scenarios that require a moral response, the higher your standards will become. If you are constrained by…[Read more]

An up-and-coming all-girl rock quartet from Argentina.
Last month, Fin del Mundo (“end of the world” in English) exploded onto the Latin American emo/indie/post-rock scene with their debut release: a self-titled EP complete with four carefully-crafted and stunningly beautiful tracks that represent the achievement of a specific and sou…[Read more]

He’s good. He’s also a big promoter of Freeze the Fall, a younger trio (ages 15 and 16) that he and I see as possibly following The Warning to the top in a few years. The singer guitarist is good but the bass and drummer (both 15) are next level.
It never ceases to amaze me how super-talented musicians manage to find each other even in relatively…[Read more]

Oh, I like that. I’ve seen online sites that can separate music into tracks, but I haven’t messed with them yet, and I’m sure they’re not this good. But they’re handy when you want to play or sing along with specific tracks.
I came to post about another lesson on listening. I was impressed by Dany’s high belting in HYCAD, live, but it wasn’t a…[Read more]

I asked the Gemini AI “What would an interstate highway system created by libertarians look like?” and got the following answer, which lays out, I think, why libertarianism won’t work: Nobody would like the result!
Libertarians generally advocate for minimal government intervention in the economy. So, an interstate highway system designed with…[Read more]

If having a sophisticated language is your measure.
It turns these little ground squirrels have an actual language built on nouns and adjectives (verbs are implied). They may not turn out to be the most intelligent nonhuman animal on Earth as science further examines other candidates, but right now these little guys seem to be the smartest animal…[Read more]

Sunday School 2 years, 3 months agoBlood Pressure and A1-C (which includes cholesterol, blood sugar, and enzyme levels) are very important, I fully agree. I aim, usually with success, to keep both readings in a normal range.
However, BMI, as well as the means of measuring it, I am not yet sure about.
I fully accept the not too scientific nature of the BMI.…[Read more]

The honor he was proudest of, however, was the Ig Nobel prize – awarded for research that “makes people laugh, then think” – he won in 2012 with a colleague, Jennifer Pokorny, for a paper showing that chimps can recognize each other by their bottoms.

Trump is a moron and, in many ways, prone to be a tool of more nefarious others. Putin is an obvious puppetmaster, but I’m more worried about the maniacs he gets his ideas from. Some of them who played roles in the fake elector attempted coup, but that leaves some really sinister bad actors behind to enable him to carry out their…[Read more]

The ladies are starting to be where it’s at in hard rock and metal. And, no, this is not another post devoted to appreciating The Warning. This is for the rest of them, though I can’t disallow that there may be occasional comparisons.
