Jake, I hope to enjoy many more summer evenings or weekend afternoons at my local track and WHEN I collect my winnings, I will enjoy some smoked salmon courtesy of the bookies.
Just like the adage about the greys, there is another one over here – “You’ll never see a bookie on a bicycle”.

@Jakelafort – Never seen a bullfight but the idea sickens me…
I once tried to explain the meaning of cognitive dissonance to someone by using what he had said earlier. He had said that he was a vegetarian not just for health reasons but also because of his animal welfare concerns. Later in the evening he said that he was looking forward to g…[Read more]

@PopeBeanie – The comment (at about 4:00) in the video about Merrick Garland being the child of Judy Garland is a spoof. I think Jon Stewart said it tongue-in-cheek. However I am now reminded of something my mother said to me over 40 years ago – “Oh, you would probably argue with the Pope to try to proof a point” 🙂

@Jakelafort – Here is another of his books that you might like – The Bonobo and the Atheist.
Frans de Waal argues that human morality is not imposed from above but instead comes from within. Moral behavior does not begin and end with religion but is in fact a product of evolution. (Which I totally agree with)

@Jakelafort – One weekend, many moons ago, I backed 5 grays in 5 separate races and collected 5 times. It’s important to watch for out for them, especially if carrying top weight. Of course, I am not being too scientific here but I cannot not consider it if I see one.

@autumn – the couple holding the straight pride flag look happy together. The gooseberry figured out 3 was indeed a crowd.

@Autumn – Both running in the primaries, or Trump running as an independent with DeSantis as the Republican candidate?
The primaries. It would be fun to watch…..if you like horror shows. I do or at least some decent anarchy in the “smash the system” sense of it. I might even catch some of that fruit (no oranges though) and sit back to watch it…[Read more]

@Jakelafort – Of all the things I campaign against, it is the indoctrination of young minds by adults with insidious religious mythology presented as truth that I most rage against. Even after just typing that one sentence I am already too angry to write anymore at present. I could warp a crucifix at 50 paces with a look 🙂

@Autumn – What you have to keep in mind is the man was under constant threat of potential assault with airborne fruit.
If I were his advisor I would put his mind at rest (an awfully good example of an oxymoron, no?) by telling him that such fruit are no match for the Jewish space lasers.

@Autumn – his lack of functional intelligence and comfort with simple lies meant he wasn’t alienating for many…
Yes, he did bigly on the memory test. Nobody has ever done more with such a very large brain.
“The last questions are much more difficult,” he said. “Like a memory question. It’s, uh, like you’ll go, ‘Person, woman, man, camera,…[Read more]

@PopeBeanie – I happened to have spent a few weeks in Panama City Beach in Florida around election time in 2018 when Nunez and DeSantis were running. Not too far from Gainsville. I would usually only be there around Thanksgiving week and there is absolutely no problem with humidity then.

Trump was the bus driver for the voters who wanted something different. Yes, it was his appeal as an outsider that got him elected. And he knew the roadmap to take his posse towards the dream of a White Christian Utopia. They will always be grateful for that. DeSantis can take over as the new mayor of Trumpsville. He has been preparing for…[Read more]

@PopeBeanie – Yes, that is a good appraisal from Jon Stewart. The GOP no longer need Trump. DeSantis is “Terminator 2” and Trump supporters don’t have to sacrifice any of their views or opinions to move over to DeSantis who is well educated and smart. I wonder if Jeanette Nunez will be shopping for a new red dress any time soon?

Sunday School 4 years agoThey both have sued the company for their dismissal. I would suggest they contact the ACLU and the FFRF for professional advice. There is case history on these employment issues. I think if the company was (say) a Catholic Adoption agency they would have stipulations in their employment contact that “only Catholics need apply” and they would lose…[Read more]
