To Do or not To Do 6 years, 8 months agoIn a democratic open society, yes religion is a choice as an adult. You may be heavily influenced by family and friends but there is nothing stopping you from changing your religion, if you are willing to deal with the social costs. But that is the same for ALL sets of ideas. If you come from a family of communists and realize you are a hard core…[Read more]

NEWS NEWS NEWS!! Current Events and Favorite News Sources 6 years, 8 months agoTo give you an idea how biased the british newspapers can be take a look at these headlines after the Lux. PM got fed up and pissed off with Boris.
Guardian: Boris HUMILIATED!
BBC, Independent, Sky, FT, London Times: Boris is a no show
Telegraph, Sun, Star: Boris AMBUSHED!
There is absolutely nothing similar to this level of bias in…[Read more]

To Do or not To Do 6 years, 8 months agoCompanies have censored content since the beginning of the US. Can you imagine The Gap doing nothing if an employee tapes a sign to the front door of a shop saying “The Gap is a bastard corporation”? Or if an employee went around telling all the female employees they had nice tits? I’m pretty sure the employee would be fired and you wouldn’t see…[Read more]

To Do or not To Do 6 years, 8 months agoI’m not concerned with hate speech in public. That’s legal in the U.S. (mostly) and not in Canada/Europe/NZ/Australia. Those countries have made their decisions and have to live with the consequences. Hate speech is widely reported in the U.S. and so are hate crimes. You can interrupt a funeral and tell grievers that he deserved to die “because…[Read more]

To Do or not To Do 6 years, 8 months agoThe US has a fairly purist approach to free speech. The government cannot stop you saying something nor penalise you unless it breaks some other law (like causing a panic, lying to the police, wasting governments time with nonsense etc). You may pay a social cost, like people denouncing what you said, losing your job or even losing friends and…[Read more]

I have tried to drive once, under the influence of weed. This was not a good idea. First of all, I struggled to reach the breakneck speed of 25mph down my small road. It was as if G-forces were pulling my face back at this terrifying speed. Secondly, I reached the end of my road and couldn’t trust enough of a gap between cars passing, to move. Ba…[Read more]

How does one abuse tobacco?
I’d say during the first couple dates, you should NEG the cigarette. Give it a compliment that is actually a cricism like “wow usually only slim cigarettes would try wearing such a beautiful dress”. This is really helpful if you want to beat down it’s confidence and increase it’s anxiety. And then the next date toss…[Read more]

Hey Davis, yes a huge number of Vermonters chuff quietly in their own homes. I believe it’s more common than alcohol usage. There have been some efforts to study the impact of legalizing weed – there was an expectation that there would be more driving impairment- so far that hasn’t been supported by numbers, but there isn’t a huge amount of usefu…[Read more]

LOL I thinking they were both smoking hot and pot. I would be very surprised if most of them don’t smoke pot at home. I smelt pot all over the place in Vermont. Although I’ve also been told random drug tests are VERY common at work in the USA.

Very funny Mr Punman. My father was Greek and spoke English with quite a heavy accent. He also liked to use puns, but his particular kind were somewhat unique, as he would base the pun on his accent, ie socks were ‘shocks’ and punned well with any electrical joke.

Reg, my sister-in-laws sister had both the urns containing her mother and mother-in-law respectively. The two sides of their family did not get on. Consequently, whenever there was a family visit, the correct urn was placed on the mantelpiece and the incorrect one under the bed. They switched these urns constantly, and never made a m…[Read more]

Unseen, everyone of these Vermont firemen belonged in a firefighter’s calendar. I’m 185 cm (6 foot 1/2 inch) and 80kg (176 pounds) and I was the smallest guy in the room. As an extreme bonus, they were amicable and friendly . It is extremely unattractive…some “too cool for school” bros sitting around doing nothing but insulting/ragging-on each…[Read more]

My preferences are that any bits of my body that can be of any use, should be made available for that purpose. The remaining parts are to be cremated and I do not give a shit what happens to the ashes. Flush them, scatter them, bury them – whatever those still alive want to do with them. I’ve already explained *I* won’t be there to care.

Jake I think Vermont has a farming community bias. We have workers who come to help during the harvest time, but they don’t contribute to the population census as they are transitory. A huge element of those farming communities are family based.
In addition, there are quite a lot of people of mixed race, and I don’t know how these are cha…[Read more]

Southern Vermont has a reasonably present African American community. I wonder if the very northern states are as populated with those immigrants who came in via the southern border or descended from slavery as the southern ones.
Regarding the opioid crisis, most of the drugs seem to come up through our southern border or west across from New…[Read more]

When you drive from Ottaws to NYC…most go via upper New York state. It is depressing land and unfriendly Hicks. To Boston is via NH which is insanely cheap gas for Canadians but otherwise meh. But I always chose via Vermont and took multiple long detours sometimes getting lost. Very beautoful territory all year long. Nothing but super friendly…[Read more]

Vermont only has 650k or so population, so everyone feels their opinion counts. For the longest time there was a banner across Main St with the words “Hate does not grow well in the rocky soil of Vermont”.
