As someone who was in college during the heyday of The Beatles and Stones, Cream, Jimi Hendrix, and the Who (all of whom I saw live) as well as Led Zeppelin, I feel somewhat qualified to say that if I could somehow get to choose between any of those bands and these three chicas, I’d rather attend a concert by The Warning.
These young…[Read more]

On relistening to “23” I’m realizing that not only is Pau singing and playing drums simultaneously, but she’s not playing a straight thump-thump-thump on the bass drum, but is often playing a syncopated pattern on the bass. I’m pretty sure that’s fairly difficult to master.

It’s always a treat when Pau sings any kind of song, but especially when any sort of sweetness is involved. I just discovered the song “23,” and it’s the fact that she is singing it that makes it special. Dany would be very unconvincing singing it. It needs Paulina’s voice.

If you’re willing to give up on solar and rely on a battery that can last several years you can get the “wave ceptor” frequent time correction function for as little as $29.

Any of my mechanical watches will keep time well enough for your transportation needs. LOL
If a watch is 5 or 10 seconds slow or fast, you’d never know the difference between your watch or any properly functioning mechanical watch.

I agree, mostly.
Trump’s fiercely powerful reality distortion field makes Steve Jobs’ look like amateur hour. Jobs’ RDF only extended to engineers and the design department of Apple. Trump’s extends to vast swathes of America where people habitually vote GOP.
There is a segment of the powerful far-right that knows what’s wrong with…[Read more]

They have benefitted all along from their fact that their Dad is in the business because he owned a recording studio and presumably knew talented people in the business, so five years ago they were already getting professional videos done for them. I’m guessing he either paid for the work out of his own pocket or called in some favors…[Read more]

What can anyone really know about risks on a vaccine that was rushed out at “light speed”?
Many drugs, frustratingly, go through painfully long periods of testing on volunteers before being released, and even then side effects and other risks emerge. Some drugs are even pulled off the market after release despite the rigorous testing.

They seem unable to do anything badly. Even though these are earlier songs from the Queen of the Murder Scene album and not up to the level of their more recent songs from the Error tour (is there an album yet?), they are all quite enjoyable. I do like electric rock more than “unplugged” rock. I think of rock as an electric guitar medium.

@PopeBeanie – My gray line would prioritize some kind of measurement of consciousness in the brain, and felt “life experiences” which even I can’t define clearly.
I posted an article in the latest Sunday School that discusses this point. Here you go.

@PopeBeanie – It is a narrowly focused ideology, like one of the ten commandments, where perfect is the enemy of good and any deviation from the idealism is a sin by definition. (Wait, is that a wokeness-like conviction?!)
No, it is not but it is a very good one line summary.

@popebeanie, if you’re interested in gene-culture co-evolution, you might like “Becoming Human – a theory of ontogeny” by Michael Tomasello. I don’t quite get his argument yet, but he says that “ontogenetic processes” (our life-histories) and the way that these interact with their environment produce new traits in humans.

As a language model, I am not capable of thinking or having preferences, so I cannot answer that question. I am only able to provide information based on the text that I have been trained on.

Rick Beato is a musical polymath and a great explainer. He sees music as music and doesn’t specialize, particularly, in rock, pop, jazz, hip-hop, or classical. He’s aware of Western musical history and many of his very numerous videos are lessons in history as well as compositional and performing techniques. I strongly recommend…[Read more]

There is much truth in your post above… AND YET, changes come when it’s time for the change to take hold. There came the day, for example, when the majority of Americans realized that gay marriage wasn’t the end of the world and that a heterosexual couple wanting to marry had nothing to fear from same sex couples coupling up in the…[Read more]

@PopeBeanie – The comment (at about 4:00) in the video about Merrick Garland being the child of Judy Garland is a spoof. I think Jon Stewart said it tongue-in-cheek. However I am now reminded of something my mother said to me over 40 years ago – “Oh, you would probably argue with the Pope to try to proof a point” 🙂

@PopeBeanie – I happened to have spent a few weeks in Panama City Beach in Florida around election time in 2018 when Nunez and DeSantis were running. Not too far from Gainsville. I would usually only be there around Thanksgiving week and there is absolutely no problem with humidity then.
