You might note that very little changed in terms of women being sexually harassed, assaulted or raped (at least in open dialogue about it) until the me too movement. Until then, no matter how much people asked politely for it to stop, it changed at a glacial pace. All the while, women being harassed, assaulted and rape in ridiculously high…[Read more]

Most people who are dismissed as woke, are simply standing up for their own equality and dignity. I’m sorry, quietly asking people if they would kindly treat others with respect and equality does not work. This is, once again, a conservative overreaction to people standing up for their rights, equality and dignity.
A few decades ago, the…[Read more]

Thank you. I needed someone to explain this to me like I was 10. Have been walking around doing my lawn, cutting the hedges, and power washing my driveway and the word woke is banging around the sides of my brain. I really had no reference or idea about WOKE. So thanks.
Any time.

Unseen, free speech is not absolute. If you don’t have any problem with curtailing free speech when it comes to libel, copyright, endangering others (shouting fire in a cinema), then I don’t see why you’d be against particularly harmful hate speech which demonstrably leads to violence and suicide against vulnerable people. Perhaps you don’t care…[Read more]

Schoolyard bullying is so bloody nasty in Anglo-Saxon countries it is flabberghasting it has taken this long to be addressed. IT is far less of an issue in many countries (including much of continental Europe though not all). I don’t remember any bullying at all when I studied in Germany but in Canada it was so vile and out of control, people were…[Read more]

Woke has become a snarl word, used by those who resist change to old structures that give an unfair advantage to certain people and keep us from giving the respect and equality to all.
Yes, some who campaign for equality go to far and use silly language. Conversely, some conservatives use vile bigoted language that paint all conservativism as…[Read more]

On one hand, I’ve often cringed at some of the wokeisms in movies and TV shows. Not because they bother me in essence, but because of how the right can now capitalize on woke sentiments, paint progressives as evil, and gain impressive tribal followings as a result. It’s similar to the kind of feelings I get when I see adults, like DJ McNasty,…[Read more]

I’ve been watching some TV series on Netflix that go back a half-dozen years or so, and I’m surprised by all the produced wokeness that far back.
Today I don’t know what people mean when they use that term any more. Its exact meaning tends to depend on who’s speaking it. I just cover my ears and blow raspberries, now.

You are under the illusion, Unseen, that any government respects the public. With very few exceptions, governments, in fact leaders of any kind, do so to suit their own interests and to maintain the interests of those who keep them in power. Yes, ideology does shape to some degree how they word bills and what they focus on. Over all…governments,…[Read more]

I don’t care what mode of destruction is used against combatants during a war. Well, I do care, but if war is going to happen, combatants are fair game. Civilians are not. Once you allow civilians to die (or pointlessly suffer to get a country to end things sooner), then there is no point in following any rules any more. If you kill civilians (a…[Read more]

Hey y’all, a few hours or so of the most recent posts made to AZ are gone, including some of my own, because of a transfer of AZ from one server to a new server that started before those posts were made. Sorry for the inconvenience… we didn’t know exactly when it was happening. I personally lost about a couple of hours of work.
