@davis – I doubt it. Other attributes of their experience would come to the fore, in a sporting team. On the other hand, if they were getting stoned, or otherwise thoughtful, on some occasions, they might think of it a bit that way. Perhaps it depends on how much into their volleyball they were.

Here in the U.S. we are protected from our government by the 1st Amendment of our Constitution and by the FOIA (Freedom Of Information Act), so it seems the government has farmed out censorship to the so-called mainstream media and the social media who can censor at will without violating the law or being subject to FOIA. This arrangement…[Read more]

@Davis and Autumn
When people decry the “fact” (really?) that there are no LGBTQ athletes, they strangely aren’t referring to women’s sports. Of course, it’s hard to analyze women since I think openness to bisexuality is more common in women than men, or at least admitting it is harder for the men.
But there are openly gay male athletes in all…[Read more]

Like I said, there are no mass rallies against a particular racial or ethnic or nationality in America. Yes, there definitely is racism here, but in over expression, it’s typically individual actions.
Many argue that the plight of American blacks in large part is due to efforts to “help” them. Witness the relative success of the Chinese,…[Read more]

Yeah, I think Europe has a bigger vulgar/bigot fan problem than the U.S. just like Europe has a bigger racism problem than the U.S., where demonstrations demanding the expatriation of Muslims or Africans or whatever virtually never happens. Hooliganism is a rarity here, and while the occasional individual may yell something demeaning or…[Read more]

You don’t know what someone is going to say until they say it. You can make assumptions, of course, but over time people’s views can change or be more nuanced than you’ve been led to believe by the media streams you have been relying on. That’s what’s been happening to the hugely popular and largely leftist podcast host Joe Rogan in the…[Read more]

@Davis I am saddened by your loss. I, too, had loving, caring parents who are both gone now, so I can empathize with what you are feeling.
Grief takes time. Just stay on the course she set you on. I’m sure it’s what she’d want for you.

The Atheist Agora 4 years, 6 months ago@davis – explain why it’s not silly, pointless and dogmatic: “just because”. Give some actual reasons based on real life or facts of some kind.
In my opinion, this is an example of where conventional moral philosophy is unhinged from everyday life. If the study of morality is a science of everyday life – something’s wrong if someone can’t g…[Read more]

The Atheist Agora 4 years, 6 months ago@davis – so you can’t answer my question? It’s not up for debate, that your theories might have something wrong about them?
I would have thought it is much more interesting to think about how intentions, actions and consequences are connected, than to keep insisting that they are not, for no good reason, other than the inadequacy of the…[Read more]

The Atheist Agora 4 years, 7 months ago@davis – intentions lead to actions, and actions lead to consequences. There’s a chain of cause and effect, like driving a car along a road. So, both intentions and actions are causal factors in the final result, although usually not the only causal factors.
Reality adds up into a coherent whole, but your -isms don’t, so something must be w…[Read more]

@Unseen, if i understand the implications of your question and the answer it suggests then superficially it is NY or Copenhagen and the Jews were mistaken in their perception.
But that is a superficial answer. First one must understand the issue of a homeland from the perspective of Jews having just escaped the holocaust. Primarily filled with…[Read more]
