Johan. Concentrate please.
You have come to our house, our atheist zone, and not respected the rules of this house. One of the main rules regarding posting, is that you may not quote biblical texts. If you want to refer to a biblical text, you can provide a link.As far as the non biblical text you post, whilst it may be weird, it’s within the b…[Read more]

Really hope that the responses to this do not contain great swathes of biblical text.

As far as I’m aware, Reg, the only acceptable quantity of Jaffa cakes to buy when the Force is strong, is in fact, “All of them”

@Reg You know, I think those religious oranges and chocolate were immortalised in Jaffa cakes. Perhaps my Rastas were sharing their communion, based on that Sermon.
interesting…

@Reg thank you, that was so funny!

Sunday School 3 years, 5 months agoEnco you are very likely thinking of a phenomena in many countries around 2001 including Canada but more notably in New Zealand, Australia and the UK where thousands of people identified their religion as Jedi Knights. Part of it was as a protest to the religion question event being included, others as a joke or under the pretence that it could…[Read more]

wiki has an article with sub referenced links on the Jedi matter. (My best mate in the UK always puts his religion down as Jedi.)
You can find it under

Hi Michael, perhaps you’re looking in the wrong places. Have you been to Jamaica? The Rastafarians in particular
“The Twelve Tribes of Israel is a Rastafari religious group and one of the Mansions of Rastafari. Its headquarters is on Hope Road in Kingston, Jamaica. The group was formed in 1968 by Vernon Carrington, who was known to the orga…[Read more]

I could really do with a prophecy regarding a horse race, or better still a lottery number. If one of those comes up, I’d be at least a little inclined to believe.
Beasts and horns don’t really do it for me. I’m glad you’re passionate about these things though. It’s nice to see joy, even interspersed with beasts 😉

Ok Michael, I’ll bite. What I read from your posts is that Prophecy (which is vague and needs interpretation) is there to demonstrate the existence of god and that this (generalised) foretelling of the future is a technique to persuade humans of god’s existence- and should people believe this, they will get eternal ‘life’.
That is my ten second…[Read more]

Even if I followed that – what does it recommend you do? Is there any use to knowing ‘the beast’ is going to do something if we have no idea who that is and cannot prevent it doing it’s deed?

I still have no idea what the point of all these prophecies are, since they appear only to be recognisable after the event.
It seems to me a useful prophecy might help you to avoid misfortune, or gain success. But if you only recognise that something was prophecy after the event, that would defeat the purpose.
It’s a bit like reading last w…[Read more]

And thus His Life should be visible too.
And yet he only shows up in ancient stories, people’s hallucinations and as images in burnt toast. God should be visible but he is not. He never shows up, not a trace of evidence beyond people’s words, feelings and unverifiable text (if you don’t include shoddy “logical” arguments which we shouldn’t…[Read more]

Johan, you are welcome to post thoughtful or original comments here. You are not welcome to proselytise (or preach or post chunks of religious texts.)
If you want to publicly share your religious insights, please don’t expect interest from an atheist membership. After all, the only reason atheists exist, is because of theistic impositions.

There was a bumper sticker on a car in front of me yesterday that said:-
IN THE BEGINNING GOD CREATED EVOLUTION
so I guess the churches are trying to accommodate science and yet remain relevant.
*spoiler alert – they won’t*
