Sunday School 8 years, 2 months ago@strega – I agree that is true. However, I think that religion can have its own special ways of leading “good people to do bad things”.

Sunday School 8 years, 2 months ago@strega – what I’m saying is that religion has a good side and a bad side, and they’re related but different and distinct (not necessarily opposite).
I believe there is a Muslim saying, “only God can judge”, and the time for judging surely has to be after we die. Some religious people think it is their right to do God’s judgement in this…[Read more]

@Strega: that’s hysterical! Atheists screwing around with other Atheists and Theist no less.
Reminded of an incident Robert Redford related about his friend Paul Newman. Knowing that Newman enjoyed auto racing and fast cars he hired a tow company to deliver a Porsche to Newman’s driveway. It was beat up and couldn’t possibly start up with chipp…[Read more]

@strega – “The effect on me, was to discover myself in a position to actually assist, rather than just go in circles around the problem with no solution as an end result.”
– there has to be a link between this and the fact that “helping in response to need” is the no.1 ethical value. When someone is in need, and we approve of the person (i.e.…[Read more]

@strega if you’re interested in Sufism, this book comes recommended, and it’s only cheap.
The Garden of Truth: The Vision and Promise of Sufism, Islam’s Mystical Tradition
I just bought it from the magic shop that lives on my desk, using some of the magic money that the government gives me every two weeks for doing nothing.

I don’t know @strega, according to my information, the Sufis are an ancient and honorable sect. They’re the hippies of the Muslim world, and of course, Isis fucking hate them. Rumi is the famous Sufi poet I believe. I’ve got a lot of time for his stuff.

@Strega I prefer to stay anonymous, not because I think the HR rep would blab or that the company would retaliate, I just don’t want to have a target on my back in case it gets out that someone complained and there is a personal response from my fellow employees. (The majority of them are Christians, and I can totally see a “But how could anyone…[Read more]

I agree, @strega – each relationship is unique.
“Love” has a number of broad definitions, and if we really want to analyse it, then a relationship can have several of these different kinds.

@Strega, I will photocopy some of my pamphlets and post them over to you. I will make the copies doubled sided to be environmentally friendly and to cut down on postage costs. Wait, I will just pick one at random and send that instead. Then you can drop into your local copy shop and make as many as you need.

@strega – “physical description”
– it’s acknowledged that God doesn’t have physical form. There isn’t some kind of creature who lives in some place, who is God.
