Are you really THIS hung up about a word? Here’s my opinion on why this word is a big deal, and then I’ll explain what I wish it to mean if/when I use the word.
The most obvious reason why it’s important, at least in a forum of atheists, is because the majority of people (at least in USA) mean it to refer to an ethereal third…[Read more]

Do you agree with this article that Trump has defected to the autocrats?Maybe, but I think it’s a longer process/progression, and that’s the direction he’s headed. In a reality show, I could see him competing with autocrats to out-autocrat them, and speaking of whether or not he’s “evil”, he’s at least an enabler…[Read more]

The first I’d heard of them was because of the Netflix series on it. It’s about time anyway that I quit Amazon video and sign up at Netflix again. I switch when I feel I’ve binged all the good stuff, and Netflix tends to last longer than Amazon.
This is scary shit. I wonder if Bannon or the Mercers are into it, too.

PopeBeanie replied to the topic Atheist seeking spirituality? in the forum
Atheism and Spirituality 6 years, 10 months agoYou’ll hear some atheists boo at the idea, especially if someone “spiritual” feels that some kind of invisible force or entity is consciously connected to their reality. In my opinion, spiritual feelings are perfectly natural, but can lead to unfounded beliefs, often harmless but sometimes debilitating or downright delusional.
I believe that…[Read more]

Leah Remini’s ‘Scientology and the Aftermath’ to End with Explosive Special
Leah Remini is calling it a day on Scientology and the Aftermath. The actress and activist, who’s been an outspoken critic of the deeply controversial organization since her own exit in 2013, has decided to wrap A&E’s Emmy-winning docuseries after three seasons.

Directly addressing the topic of the definition of God, I accidentally found this video of Bill Moyers 2013 interview with Daniel Dennett. As usual, I skip several minutes into the long video for you where I recommend you can just watch about 3-1/2 minutes of it, if that’s all you can afford:

I never assume a religionist is also a creationist, even when a large number of religionists actually come here to argue their view, who (by nature) are often die-hard creationists who want to “save” us. I can say from several years of experience now that we normally use the term “creationist” to refer to those strongly believing in genesis, who c…[Read more]

Dear Theists,
Has one or any God spoken to you, personally, and described their self? If not, then every conception or declaration of what God is is merely hearsay, unless you also believe that God personally wrote or dictated scriptures that people, mere mortals, pen and print to this day. Did the angel Gabriel really relay God’s word to Mo…[Read more]

Sunday School 6 years, 11 months agoYou have to frame a solution to the specific characteristics of the society you are addressing. The USA is an extreme capitalist society, running on the dollar as it’s lifeblood. Consequently, we need to have a profit element built in to the solution. Mandating liability insurance along with any license requirement might just work.
