Belle, the future is changeable, the past less so. However, if you feel extermination is the answer, I’d suggest you review history to see how that worked out. Have you ever seen any of the North Korea propaganda against the USA? Whilst to you it may seem ridiculous and untrue, to many there it is seen as fact. Why do you think the USA is si…[Read more]

Belle, we need to understand how an innocent baby turned into a terrorist, and how to attempt to repair what humans have done to humans. Humans are not animals in the perjurative sense. (We are all animals biologically). It is fear that makes us angry. We have to understand the thought processes of the people whose actions cause us fear. Th…[Read more]

Belle it is us who need to understand, if we are to approach the idea of healing the tragic situation.

In Any Tongue – David Gilmour (of Pink Floyd)
Home and done it’s just begun
His heart weighs more, more than it ever did before
What has he done? God help my son
Hey, stay a while, I’ll stay up
No sugar is enough to bring sweetness to his cup
I know sorrow tastes the same on any tongue
How was I to feel it
When a gun was in my hands
And I’d…[Read more] -

Islam is not the special enemy. Actually, White supremacy appears to be more deadly in the USA. Oppression is oppression, religion is religion and terrorism is terrorism. Let’s not get that confused.

Belle, perhaps it’s just a thought process. Imagine that everything goes wrong, and imagine what you would do about it. You have the ability to imagine, now, with no serious emotion or confusion. If a bad thing happens, you’d be so choked with emotion it would be really hard to think clearly, so it’s much easier to do the imagining when the…[Read more]

Belle I’m not trying to scare you. I completely understand your hopes and expectations for positive results. Have you decided how you ‘would not let that happen’? It’s not that I need to know, it’s that you need to know. Disaster recovery plans are set up before any signs of a disaster. You lock your front door at night, even though you…[Read more]

I don’t know how grounded your sister is, but do you think it’s something you could discuss with her? Perhaps she has an idea of how to set boundaries. Belle, everyone here wants you to succeed. Everyone here is offering concern, and that is shaping up almost like arguments against you doing what you’re doing. The concern is real, but inste…[Read more]

Strega replied to the topic ETHICS WITHOUT ABSOLUTES in the forum Small Talk 8 years, 5 months ago
There are all types of absolutes. Personally I cringe when people use the terms ‘always’, ‘everybody’ and ‘never’. It’s almost a compulsion for me to find an exception. However, red lines have to be absolute, even if they inadvertently trap or adversely affect an ‘innocent’.

Belle without the intimate details of your situation it’s hard for me, an outsider, to be specific. I can give you an idea, maybe. Perhaps there are certain red lines that you don’t allow her to cross, such as theft, violence or unwanted guests of hers. These get written down and signed by both of you, along with what the consequences would…[Read more]

Belle, when I put my seatbelt on in the car, it isn’t because I’m expecting to hurtle through the windscreen. I’m asking what your disaster recovery plan is. It’s much better to work out how you’d manage an unexpected disaster if you’ve contemplated it when no disaster is looming. I’m all for hope and belief in others, but not at the expense o…[Read more]

Sounds like you’ve made the decision already. I see that you do consider it a risk. I understand you are hopeful it will be a success. Have you decided what to do if this doesn’t work? Would you throw her in the street again? What is your fallback plan in case it doesn’t go well?

Sunday School 8 years, 5 months agoIf people can be ‘certain’ the earth is flat despite the mountain of evidence (yes Reg I slipped a quip in there just for you) then it stands to reason there is no extreme as to what people will believe. Consequently, if it could be proven there is no deity, that would still not matter to the devout. Or the Scientologists
Most probably, DNA…[Read more]
