Every human reading this has consciousness. I dare anyone to refute this simple fact without attracting postmodernist-like tripe. Personally, I take the approach that we need more empirical descriptions of it. Keep adding anecdotes and personal experiences (because by definition consciousness includes experiences), but more importantly, expand on…[Read more]

Excerpt [italics mine] from CNN [full story] after Trump fired the Secretary of Defense Esper today:
After National Guard troops and US Park Police violently dispersed peaceful protestors in June, so Trump could hold a photo op in Lafayette Square, Esper took extra caution to try to keep the US military out of the realm of the President’s…

Brilliant, Popie, I was looking everywhere for that map – not that the people complaining actually want resolution but it’s nice to have it saved.

Most of us here understand how the “red state” American map is visually misleading:

The following visual is not of land area, but more informatively graphs votes according to population:

Both of the above screen clips came from an animated GIF that smoothly transitions from one visual to the other.

Science — the kind that requires evidence and reason. 5 years, 7 months agoWe’ll stay divided for a while, at least.
Just grabbed this screenshot from PBS of Biden vs Trump supporters, from an AP survey question “Is the virus somewhat under control or not at all under control“. (I verified they mistakenly left the word “at” out. See the whole poll here.)

Meanwhile Biden’s already said he’s set to pull together…[Read more]

Science — the kind that requires evidence and reason. 5 years, 7 months agoNow that Biden says he’s going to get a national strategy going on beating Covid-19, including improved testing, I have more to contribute to this end. Canada recently approved an approach to rapid testing, and the following link goes straight to that topic lasting only 4-1/2 minutes, or longer if you’re interested in more detail. Btw I have…[Read more]

I’ll be most interested in those who are running in the next mid-term elections. The others have three or five years to take stock and adapt their politics as they see fit later.

Guess I did avoid that question. He’s unhinged, and what he does next I can’t predict. He’s likely energized by his fans who are energized by him, so he can carry this energy into 2021 after he’s no longer potus. He also has another possible outlet for expressing himself (this clip from AP news):
Allies of the president, including his eldest son,…

He might try. But at some point, even the most rabid Trump supporters will have to realize that there is no road to a Trump win. This is purely anecdotal, but in my local newspaper’s comment section which is normally noisy with pro-Trump–even hateful comments about anti-Trump comments, is now strangely quiet.
I personally feel that if anything…[Read more]
