Atheism and Spirituality 7 years ago…..and if we’re fixated on the idea of defining “spiritual” – good luck. There’s over 27 definitions (or more) because again – it REALLY depends on the lens by which you see the world. We go into this with a confirmation bias (@Davis whether you accept that or not it is the truth).
I don’t think it’s a bad thing. I think we DO connect wit…[Read more]

Atheism and Spirituality 7 years ago@davis – we can give you definitions til we’re blue in the face, but you will probably continue to ignore them.
That’s because you rarely give a definition that actually describes things in meaningful ways. They are full of weasel words, vagueries, subject avoiding, non-committal references and basically ever device imaginable to avoid making any…[Read more]

Atheism and Spirituality 7 years agoIf anything, humanists usually have more experience (via critical thinking and exposing themselves to knowledge about other cultures and philosophical ideas through the ages and around the world) with trying to see the world through the eyes of those with different world views.
That’s what you tell yourself. You can go ahead and believe t…[Read more]

Atheism and Spirituality 7 years agoYeah well what does spiritual mean? What do you mean by this statement? I cannot understand it. Please elaborate
I already gave one example when I was talking to Reg about the recommendation I received from a medical doctor (a physiatrist to be exact).

@Davis, I take it as a given. The Chinese “Inner Party” (in Orwell’s 1984 meaning of the term) has an iron grasp on the entire society. The majority of the people (i.e. “the proles” in 1984) cannot search online for “1984” even though they can by the book in a local bookstore. Soon everything they do will be recorded and any semblance of “power to…[Read more]

You know, I rarely talk about this on here but… Correctional officers always have been the bastard stepchild of law-enforcement. And we get a really bad name. I think I read somewhere that the officers on duty or on their overtime. This is something that is so common place. When shit hits the fan it’s very easy to just blame the cor…[Read more]

He won’t sit in court and listen to the endless evidence of his crimes. Victims telling the court in devastating detail how they suffered and their lives will never be the same.
You bring up good points….Thing is: even if he did see his day in court, the odds are justice still wouldn’t be served. You realize how many men like him doing t…[Read more]

So you don’t think the fact that he is dead is justice enough? You said that you would have rather seen him be killed by the state instead of having the control of doing it himself? Either way he’s gone. And the truth will come out with or without him. One less asshole on this planet to worry about. I was actually kind of laughing abo…[Read more]

Drug cartels are all over the world. So I don’t know if I would really say the rest of the developed world sees nothing like it. The thing about the United States and the high levels of incarceration has a lot to do with the fact that prison in and of itself h…[Read more]

It’s shocking how ignorant you are of the role the decline in religion played in making your rights possible. You should be VERY thankful for secularization and the withdrawl of religious poison (and adoption of humanist principles).
It’s shocking how strongly you seem to adopt an “us vs. them” mentality when it comes to religion – the VERY…[Read more]
