@Strega there was an expectation that there would be more driving impairment…
Once while under the influence of some excellent Kush we devised a plan to rob a pizza van but after an hour strategizing we decided none of us was fit enough to drive 🙂

@Strega, Their eventual divorce resolved the issue naturally.
Good. I ‘m glad they made no bones about it or there could have been a big dust up between them.

Sunday School 6 years, 9 months agoI’m curious, Ivy, as to why you joined AZ. It appears to me that you are trying to fight an uphill battle, coming to an atheist site to wave your beliefs around.
I’ve been a member of this site since 2012. But it’s a dog eat dog world isn’t it? Since I can’t raise up any questions at all about anything without receiving an attitude,…[Read more]

Simon Paynton replied to the topic What are all the reasons you don’t believe in Jesus? in the forum Advice 7 years, 2 months ago
@strega – all I’m saying is that for Christians, it adds up to say that.
@davis – those mechanisms – enforced God-believing, and threatening people with eternal torture, originated in the need to enforce long term cooperation, hopefully leading to thriving, although as we know, this often hasn’t worked out.
I haven’t ever read the Bible cover to cover.

@strega – “Sexist, racist, misogynist- all acceptable states for a person as long as they are considered outside the group”
– I think that’s true. In the Bible, the Golden Rule is first introduced in the Jewish Old Testament, but it only applied to other Jews, and Jesus was the one who “universalised” it to include out-group members in the…[Read more]

@strega – those two metaphors are central to the essence of Christianity. If you understand them, you understand Jesus’ central message.

@strega – I’ve named two metaphors which as far as I know are unique to Christianity – the living waters, and the mustard seed. These are both metaphors for the pressure to thrive, or at least, they fit with it perfectly.

@strega – “Some stuff”
– I’ve used the metaphor of the living waters and the mustard seed from Jesus, and the rock and the water from Daoism; “love God, and love your neighbour as yourself” from Jesus, “He is not a believer who eats his fill while his neighbour remains hungry by his side.” from the Prophet Mohammed. I’m sure there are a lot o…[Read more]

@strega, that sounds like a good guideline to work on. I used the word “guideline” because on reconsidering, “commandment” or “rule” is too firm. This is my most important commandment: Always have a bottle of Tabasco on hand, for all meals. Doesn’t matter – pizza, eggs, potatoes, bread – Tabasco makes life worth living. -

All I know is, when I don’t know something my nose starts twitching.
@strega – did your mum not explain why to never explain? It doesn’t make much sense to me. I understand “don’t make excuses” but sometimes an explanation is necessary.

Simon Paynton replied to the topic IS EVIL REAL? OR, LIKE GOD, A HUMAN INVENTION? in the forum Small Talk 8 years ago
@strega – I think it’s more a description of types of behaviours, rather than just “the most bad”.
“Dawkins claims that “faith is an evil.””
If we are to claim that something is evil, we have to have solid reasons other than just “it’s really really bad”.

Sunday School 8 years, 1 month ago@noel – that poor guy, he had it all wrong.
@strega – there are definitely at least two different kinds of spirituality. One involves “spirits” and the supernatural, which I’m not talking about here. The other is “the practice of self-transformation” (according to one definition). So self-care comes under this definition. Think Bruce Lee (fo…[Read more]
