These companies would look at the human body and conclude that having 2 lungs and 2 kidneys was financially inefficient, and probably engage in the organ trade business.

@Davis,
The producers exercised artistic license and were not true to the book, but nonetheless I thought it ironic that “Daenerys Targaryen the unburnt” would be killed by “Snow”. -

Thanks for the advice and the unbiased assessment of my delivery. Moving forward I will take heed to your advice. And thanks for vouching for my intent.

Sunday School 6 years, 5 months ago@Davis could you provide at least one example. I’m really interested to understand your perspective because I listen to Jordan Peterson all the time and I really do not understand what all the anger and hatred towards him is about. I really don’t. Have you ever actually listened to any of his lectures?

I learned from the video, mostly because we didn’t go that deep into European systems in polysci class. Thanks in advance for enduring it @Davis, and I hope you have time to offer more of your expertise on it. (Although I’m mostly interested now in how various economic systems will play out, as a probably never-ending set of experiments. And I…[Read more]

Pope, i interpreted BIG DEAL as follows.Point taken. I guess I crossed the line a bit there. I feel like a virtual babe in the philosophical woods here, so let me get a couple of naive observations/questions out of the way. (Tongue in cheek.)
Is all sophistry specious?
Is it wrong to like the initials “UC” in this conversation because it fits so well with “UC Berkeley”?

@Davis, good point. Some of the worst human atrocities, like during and after war, expanded the victor’s gene pool. One study claims that one man in 200 on earth has descended from Genghis Khan.
While looking for more recent studies, I ran across a couple more interesting ones discovering a significant loss of diversity of Y chromosomes, likely…[Read more]

….. I love Christmas time……
Me too. Could not agree more. Christmas has largely lost the religious bent and is mostly just a good-will holiday. I particularly enjoy any music from “The Nutcracker” and I love the Dicken’s tale, which is really a secular message….don’t be an asshole !

Yes because the function of this discussion was to get, maybe even just one person, to help you confirm your biases and to roll the eyes at all the rational comments coming in.

More anti-knowledge post-modernism. You have a real hangup on the difference between evidence and rationally based claims vs. intuitively based ones. As though there is no difference

Atheism and Spirituality 7 years agoI could easily say “I do think that ALL religious people know deep down that their preposterous childish beliefs are totally whacko”. But that’s simply not true.

Atheism and Spirituality 7 years agolol, at least we can say we know what we’re talking about now. I think it’s important, that if we use a word, we know what it means.
I think that spirituality is equally accessible to religious (God-believing) and non-religious people, depending on the frame of reference. It’s easier for religious people because it’s their meat and drink. Wo…[Read more]
